The Groq API key is stored in Firestore and read server-side by javihai.in (theGROQ_API_KEY environment variable is only a fallback if none is saved here). Saving a key here verifies it with Groq first, and the server picks it up within a couple of minutes. The desktop app receives the key after sign-in and keeps it in memory, so apps that are already open switch to a rotated key the next time they restart — no reinstall needed.

⚠ A free-tier key is fine as a backup — here is what that means.On Google’s free tier, prompts may be used to improve its products and read by reviewers, and it is not allowed for users in the EEA, UK or Switzerland. So the app only uses Gemini after Groq is out of capacity, never sends the resume, and skips users in those regions. The interview question itself (and any screenshot) is still sent, so add Google Gemini to the Privacy Policy. The free quota is small: when it runs out the app simply shows its normal “AI is busy” message and retries later. A billing-enabled key removes these limits. 🔒 The key is stored in Firestore, never returned to browsers (only the masked form is shown), and read only by the JavihAI server.
